Consistent Effort Over Challenging Terrain David Sullivan completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in a total elapsed time of 5:48:31, covering the distance of 13.36 miles with an overall pace of 26:05 min/mile. Among the total participants, David ranked 1366th overall and 49th in the Division O60-64. The initial stages were promising with a strong start at Ruxton (8:11 min/mile) and Hydro Street (13:53 min/mile). However, as expected, the pace gradually declined with increasing altitude and terrain difficulty. The steepest challenge emerged in the final miles. David's pace slowed, particularly after passing A-Frame (31:51 min/mile) as he ascended to elevations over 14,000 feet. Despite this, he maintained his standing among his division peers consistently. It's notable that his resilience shone as he approached the finish, maintaining position as 49th in his age group. While the splits show a decrease in pace, this is consistent with the increase in elevation and difficulty. Focusing on targeted hill training could further improve his efficiency on the incline in future events.
