Strong Finish Up the Mountain: Impressive Age Group Placement Jiea Kim, a 56-year-old runner from Eagle, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:38:53. She achieved a commendable 6th place in the F55-59 age group. The race started at an elevation of 6,303 feet, with Jiea initially setting off at a brisk pace. Her early split at Ruxton (0.43 miles) was recorded at 10:18 min/mile, adjusting to the increasing altitude and terrain challenges as she progressed. By the 3.2-mile marker at the Top of W's, her pace steadied at 19:47 min/mile. Notably, Jiea tackled the grueling final stretch above the tree line efficiently. Despite a steep and high-altitude challenge, she maintained motivation, eventually completing the ascent at 14,061 feet. Her steady performance, especially under tough conditions from A-Frame onward, highlights her resilience. Fine-tuning her pacing rhythm between 7.91 miles and 10.29 miles could offer valuable gains in future high-altitude events.
