Steady Ascent with Promising Splits Hayden Keller completed the Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in a remarkable time of 3:40:50, navigating 13.36 miles with an average pace of 16:31 min/mile. Throughout the course, Hayden showcased strong early pacing with an impressive 7:42 min/mile pace at Ruxton and 8:25 min/mile at Hydro Street, marking a strong start. However, the latter sections of the race, particularly above tree line, saw a noticeable slow down with pace extending to 25:46 min/mile at the "1.5 Miles To Go" mark, reflecting the challenging elevation gain. Hayden's position fluctuated throughout the race, moving from 715th at the start to a peak of 105th at Hydro Street, before concluding in 223rd place overall. Notably, an admirable recovery at "1.5 Miles To Go" showed a brief advance in position, suggesting potential for maintaining consistency in future races. Focusing on the last three miles, which presented the most difficulty, may help alleviate slowdowns and enhance competitive edge next time.
