Consistent Performance with Excellent Age Group Placement Mario Krenn completed the Pikes Peak Ascent in 3:18:59, covering the 13.36-mile trail with an average pace of 14:53 minutes per mile. He showcased impressive consistency throughout the ascent, finishing as the 2nd runner in his 45-49 age group. Starting strong with a 7:41 pace in the first split, his pace adjusted as expected with increasing altitude and elevation gains, finishing with a 21:20 pace in the final segment. His overall placement was 110th out of 2049 participants, and 94th among male competitors. Notably, after the initial elevation change from the start to Ruxton, he maintained a solid position in the top 5 within his age group for the remainder of the race. Splits from Mile 10 onward indicate a slight slowing trend, with steep altitude at 14,061 feet affecting the pace significantly. Future efforts may focus on adjusting pacing strategy in higher elevation stages.
