Strong Start but Challenging Final Miles Brian Dumm, 42, from Colorado Springs, tackled the formidable 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile course in an elapsed time of 3:36:59 with an average pace of 16:14 minutes per mile. Starting strong, Brian clocked a swift 6:55 pace in the first split to Ruxton, achieving first place in his division. By the time he reached Hydro Street, he maintained his lead in the division with a split pace of 8:27. As the elevation increased, Brian faced progressively tougher splits. Transitioning from Barr Camp (1:40:38) to Bottomless Pit (1:55:54) saw an increase in split time to 17:46. The final stretch was notably demanding, with a 24:06 split pace as Brian reached the finish line. Although he placed 18th in his division (O40-44), the early efforts demonstrate Brian's potential. Fine-tuning pacing strategies for the latter segments could enhance his performance in future high-altitude endeavors.
