Carson Maintains Tenacity in Grueling Ascent Carson Smith, aged 30 from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 5:37:01 over the 13.36-mile course. His initial pace early on at Ruxton was quite brisk at 11:59 min/mile, placing him initially in a solid position. However, as the race progressed, the pace gradually slowed—from 16:11 min/mile by Hydro Street to a final split pace of 37:24 min/mile at the Finish. Interesting to note is Carson's performance between more challenging segments like the A-Frame section, where he ran a 32:50 min/mile pace, showing resilience at high altitudes around 11,933 feet. He noticeably improved to 1206th overall when reaching 1 mile to go, achieving a leveled-off performance towards the end. Focusing on the early segments might give Carson an edge for future ascents.
