Consistent Finish on a Tough Terrain Matthew Russell, 32, from Montgomery, AL, displayed an impressive performance in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. Completing the 13.36-mile race with an elapsed time of 4:01:39, he maintained an overall pace of 18:05 min/mile. His strategic start had him at 57th place overall, with a notable 6th place in his division, which shows a strong initial pace. Although placed 369th overall among 2049 participants by the end, his perseverance was evident amid increasing elevation and fatigue. Reviewing the splits, Matthew began with a strong 8:18 min/mile pace at Ruxton but gradually adjusted pacewise as he tackled elevations peaking at 14,061 feet. A significant 25:42 min/mile split occurred at "1.5 Miles To Go," highlighting the race's challenging segments.
