Consistency and Progress in High Altitude Performance James English demonstrated significant progress at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon. Completing the race with an elapsed time of 4:11:40, James improved by nearly 19 minutes from the previous year. He achieved an overall pace of 18:50 min/mile, showing marked improvement from 20:13 min/mile in 2024. Notably, James moved up in the O55-59 division, from 19th place last year to 12th this year, an excellent display of advancement. The splits reveal a strong start, with notable quick movement from the start to Ruxton at a pace of 9:08, allowing James to climb through the ranks effectively. Although the terrain and altitude increases slowed him in the final miles, his steady pace at "1 Mile To Go" (24:44 pace) shows consistency at high elevations. Focusing further on maintaining a consistent rhythm and adapting to high altitudes may aid in even better future performances.
