Consistent Climb Amidst Altitude Challenges Clayton Gossett, 44, from Wichita, achieved a notable performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. With an overall finish time of 4:03:46, Clayton maintained an average pace of 18:14 min/mile over the demanding 13.36-mile course that climbs from 6,000 to over 14,000 feet in elevation. Noteworthy is Clayton's ability to hold a steady position in his division, peaking at 20th approaching the 1.5 miles to go marker at a challenging altitude of 13,024 feet. A closer look at his splits reveals a determined effort despite increasing elevation challenges. Clayton started strong with an impressive split pace of 8:28 min/mile during the initial 0.43 miles. Over the four critical miles above the tree line, his pace understandably slowed, averaging around 25 min/mile.
