Steady Improvement on the Ascent Bruce Swanson executed a disciplined performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, finishing the half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:00:13, improving upon his previous year's time of 4:02:29 by approximately two minutes. His average pace for the event was 17:58 per mile, a slight improvement from 18:09 in 2024. Bruce climbed through the ranks well, securing 6th place in the M60-64 division, moving up from 8th the year before. Bruce demonstrated resilience in the final tough sections above the tree line. While the pace naturally slowed, ranging from 21:27 to 24:28 minutes per mile in the last few miles, he positioned himself strongly. Notably, Bruce's strongest sector split was at the "Hydro Street" section, where he maintained a robust pace of 12:08 per mile. For future races, Bruce might find potential by maintaining this pacing strategy in prolonged segments of similar elevation gain.
