Consistent Effort Through altitude Challenge Nicholas Waskewicz, 40, from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an overall time of 6:05:31. Nicholas placed 1480th out of 2049 total participants, 950th among males, and 128th in the O40-44 division. His performance was steady, with an overall pace of 27:21 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. The race started at 6303 feet and peaked at an elevation of 14061 feet. Despite the increasingly challenging conditions, Nicholas maintained a considerable pace. His fastest mile was near "Ruxton" at 11:22 min/mile, highlighting his strong start. However, the elevation gain significantly affected his split times, particularly after "Barr Camp," with a slower pace of 57:13 min/mile at "Bottomless Pit." Nicholas showed resilience by completing the final 0.5-mile stretch in 20:24. Focusing on pacing strategies for high elevation may aid in future races.
