Consistent Performance Despite Increased Altitude Challenges Steve Panzik delivered a commendable performance in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. Starting strong, he covered the initial 0.43 miles with an impressive 8:25 min/mile pace at Ruxton, showing early promise and agility which helped him secure a great position quickly. Even through various splits, Steve maintained competitive division rankings, especially during the first part of the race, holding the 14th and 13th positions at No Name Creek and Hydro Street, respectively. As the altitude intensified above tree line and fatigue set in, Steve's pace naturally decreased, registering a 36:29 min/mile at the finish. Despite this, he managed to complete the race with an overall time of 4:24:41. Maintaining position under challenging conditions, he finished 34th in his division of O50-54. Focusing on split-time analyses reveals potential areas for reduced slowdown, notably from A-Frame onward, to further enhance his race strategy in subsequent events.
