Consistent Performance with Opportunities to Sharpen Edge at High Altitude Hayden Kast completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 3:27:57, covering 13.36 miles for an overall pace of 15:33 min/mile, placing 145th out of 2049 participants. At the start, Hayen improved significantly from 1118th to 138th within the first 0.43 miles, showcasing a strong initial sprint at a 7:29 min/mile pace until Ruxton. His climbing ability shone as he navigated through the early sections, maintaining his standing among the top 150 for most of the race. While the early miles demonstrated efficiency, the splits in the high-altitude zones, particularly after Barr Camp, showed a noticeable slowdown. The "1 Mile To Go" marker was managed at a 21:13 min/mile pace at 13329 feet, which hints at the altitude's impact. Slight improvements in pace above the tree line, especially in the last segments, could elevate Hayden's performance further in future races.
