Progressive Climb with Strong Mid-Race Surge Otto Lindenau, age 54 from Colorado Springs, approached the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with consistent progression, completing the 13.36-mile half marathon in a total time of 5:19:41. Despite a demanding course, he maintained a strong position, moving up from 1345th place at the start to 1162nd by the finish. At "Barr Camp" (7.91 miles, 10250 ft elevation), Otto achieved a notable surge in performance, with a split pace of 14:15 min/mile, elevating his position to 775th overall and 574th among males. As expected, the pace slowed in the final section above the tree line. The last segment, "0.5 Miles To Go" to "Finish" (13,694 to 14,061 ft), saw the split pace drop to 42:54 min/mile. Otto ended the race 77th in his division. Focusing on managing pacing in high-altitude conditions and maintaining momentum in the last miles can improve overall time and placement in future races.
