Consistent Determination on the Ascent Jill Beauregard, competing in the 45-49 age category, completed the Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon in 5:20:02, averaging a pace of 23:57 min/mile over 13.36 miles. Her performance placed her in the top half of her age division and within the top 60% in her gender category. Starting strong, Jill maintained a competitive position early on, moving steadily from 718th place to 268th place around the 0.43-mile mark. Jill faced the steep grade and altitude adjustments with resilience, especially across challenging segments like Barr Camp to Bottomless Pit where altitude increased by nearly 1600 feet. Her splits show consistency, with a noticeable pace drop on segments exposed to high altitudes, such as the final stretch to the summit where the elevation peaked at 14,061 feet. Future training focused on altitude adaptation and pace management in steep sections may allow for improved transitions in the high-altitude parts of the ascent.
