Strong Performance with Grit Through Climbing Altitudes Laura Nelson displayed remarkable endurance during the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the course in 5:08:26. Starting strong from Owatonna, MN, she navigated the 13.36-mile trail run, facing an overall elevation gain from 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet. Her pace of 23:05 per mile was consistent under challenging conditions. Laura improved her positioning significantly from 1607th at the start to finishing 1059th overall among 2049 participants. Her noteworthy progression was evident early on as she climbed from 1607th to 831st at the Barr Camp split, a key section at an elevation of 10,250 feet. The ascent above the tree line took its toll as expected, seeing a slowdown in her pace to 34:58 per mile near the finish. Despite the increasing difficulty, Laura maintained her focus, supporting a strong finish and placing 45th in her division, F40-44. Utilizing her experience from this ascent, she can further refine strategies for high-altitude terrains.
