Consistent Improvement in High-Elevation Challenge Rebecca Steven completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an impressive time of 4:23:07, improving her pace to 19:41 min/mile compared to her previous year's performance by over 4 minutes. Notably, she secured 2nd place in the F60-64 division. This showcases her ability to maintain a strong performance in a high-altitude environment. Starting off strong, her pace at the first split, Ruxton, was 9:26 min/mile, showing tremendous initial momentum. As the race progressed and elevation increased, Rebecca maintained a commendable pace. Her splits from the Barr Camp to the Finish demonstrated perseverance, with the steepest climbs impacting her pace, reaching 29:32 min/mile in the final half-mile. Improvement opportunities may lie in sustaining momentum in the climb to 14,000 feet, particularly in the last three miles above the treeline. Nonetheless, her ability to enhance her division placement from 4th to 2nd speaks volumes of her commitment and dedication.
