Steady Progression in Challenging Elevations Darren Council from Colorado Springs completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, covering 13.36 miles with an elapsed time of 6:06:25. His overall pace was 27:25 per mile. Starting from an elevation of about 6,303 feet and finishing at 14,061 feet, Darren's effort saw him finishing 1486th overall out of 2049 participants. Notable splits include an initial fast start from the Ruxton checkpoint at a 10:25 minute per mile pace. As expected, a significant slowdown was observed over the course as Darren tackled higher altitudes and challenging terrain. His performance at the Bottomless Pit was notably tough, clocking a 54:32 minute per mile split. Despite fluctuating paces, Darren successfully tackled the ascent above the tree line and finished strong. By focusing on maintaining consistency through elevation gains, Darren can continue to refine his strategy for future races.
