Sustained Effort in High Altitude Challenge Alex Veroude of New Canaan, CT completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 5:13:52, covering a distance of 13.36 miles. Starting strong, Alex achieved a 10:01 min/mile pace at the Ruxton checkpoint, swiftly positioning himself at 997th overall. Despite a gradual drop in pace as the altitude increased, Alex demonstrated resilience with a consistent performance, placing 71st in the O50-54 age division within a field of 2049 participants. An impressive pace at the Start rapidly slowed due to shifts in altitude, with a noticeable pace change at A-Frame, climbing from 23:01 to 29:12 min/mile. The final push to the Finish, an elevation of 14,061 feet, saw the completion at a pace of 36:57 min/mile. These stats suggest focus on sustaining pace through challenging sections will enhance results further. This performance highlights Alex's ability to tackle difficult terrains and altitude shifts.
