Notable Pace Improvement on Mountainous Terrain Robert Merrion completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with a final time of 5:37:41 over a distance of 13.36 miles, achieving an elapsed pace of 25:16 min/mile. This performance demonstrated a marked improvement over his previous attempt at the 2024 event, where he recorded a time of 5:41:20, maintaining a pace of 25:32 min/mile. Notably, Robert progressed through the challenging sections of the course efficiently, underscored by a strong push early in the race, climbing from excellent positions at the start. The most significant slowdown occurred in the final stretches above the tree line, with the "1 Mile To Go" section pacing at 40:24 min/mile. Despite finishing 1293rd overall among 2049 participants, his splits indicated a strong, strategic start and a consistent effort throughout.
