Strong Start, Challenging Finish on Pikes Peak Kimberly Ellis completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an impressive start. She clocked a brisk 8:51 min/mile during the initial 0.43 miles at Ruxton, showcasing strong early momentum. This swift pace initially placed her 14th in her division. As the course climbed, her splits adjusted accordingly, demonstrating resilience amid increasing elevation. By the 7.91-mile mark at Barr Camp (elevation 10,250 feet), her pace was 16:47 min/mile. In the final three miles, the increasing elevation to 14,061 feet presented formidable challenges. The last segment saw slower splits, with the final 0.5257 miles covered at 28:04 min/mile. Elevation gain and fatigue were evident in this portion, resulting in Kimberly finishing with an overall elapsed time of 4:12:33 and placing 17th in the F45-49 division. Despite these challenges, the steadfast progression through various elevations reflects a commendable effort, a strength to be leveraged in future races.
