His average pace for the race was 21:29 min/mile, a significant improvement from his previous pace of 24:08 min/mile. Notably, his ranking moved from 1068th overall in 2024 to 835th in 2025, indicating a strong performance relative to more participants this year. An analysis of Matthew’s splits reveals a consistent improvement in positioning throughout the race, particularly in the sections above treeline. Although the climb from "A-Frame" to the finish saw a natural slowdown due to the steep ascent and high elevation, Matthew gained places, particularly after the "2 Miles To Go" mark.
