Strong Finish Despite Altitude Challenges Ron Pausa completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 4:57:28 over the distance of 13.36 miles, achieving an overall pace of 22:15 min/mile. Notably, Ron placed 27th in his division, O60-64, in a field of 2049 participants. His strong start was evident at the Ruxton split, covering 0.43 miles with a pace of 9:05 min/mile. As expected, the ascent's increasing altitude led to slower paces, culminating in a challenging final mile with a split pace of 43:03 min/mile. Analyzing the splits, Ron maintained competitive pacing for the first half, reaching Hydro Street at 11:58 min/mile. However, the steep climb from A-Frame to the finish resulted in reduced speed, with the final 0.5243-mile split logged at 33:43 min/mile. Continued focus on maintaining energy reserves for the last stages could be beneficial for future races. Despite this pace shift, Ron successfully navigated the ascent to conclude a demanding race on a high note.
