Consistent Climb with Strong Mid-Race Pace! Christian Smith set a noteworthy pace at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile course in 3:46:25. His overall pace was 16:56 per mile, moving through the demanding segments with tenacity and ultimately reaching an elevation of 14,061 feet at the finish. Initial legs showed promise; he navigated from the starting line at 6,303 feet to Ruxton efficiently, sporting a swift 8:31 pace during the first 0.43 miles and improved to a top 206 overall finish in the open division. Particularly impressive was Christian's strong performance past the halfway mark. At the 7.8-mile point near the summit, with an elevation of 9,461 feet, he demonstrated solid pacing, covering 1.57 miles in 21:50 at a 13:54 pace—the fastest during the latter half of the race. While the final elevated leg lengthened to a 23:20 pace, this serves as a valuable opportunity to strategize speed sustainability during next high-altitude events.
