Strong Start, Persistence to the Finish Derick Williamson demonstrated commendable effort in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, completing the 13.36 miles in 5:13:05. From the start, he quickly gained ground, advancing from 1630th place at the start to an impressive 343rd at Ruxton, with a split pace of 8:18 min/mile. His pace naturally varied with the increasing altitude, slowing to 42:43 min/mile between the last checkpoint and the finish at over 14,000 feet elevation. Throughout the race, Derick maintained a consistent position within his division, seeing notable performance up to Barr Camp, marking his best relative placement at 65th with an elapsed time of 1:36:31. The latter parts of the course posed greater challenges, seen in the splits from A-Frame onward where pacing adjustments were evident. Focusing on endurance as elevation increases could be beneficial for future runs. Overall, the steady performance showcased Derick's resilience in a demanding environment.
