Achieving Consistency at High Elevation James Strawn participated in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent and completed the 13.36-mile race with an elapsed time of 4:48:39, matching closely to last year's performance with a slight increase of 3:41 in his time. He maintained an overall pace of 21:36 min/mile and secured the 26th position in the O55-59 division. His strongest moment appeared early on, with a 9:45 min/mile pace between the start and Ruxton, showing the fastest segment of his race. Among the 2049 participants, he placed 858th overall and 619th in the Open division. As the race progressed and the elevation increased, James's pace naturally decelerated, especially beyond the treeline, where altitudes above 12,000 feet tested endurance. This was reflected in the final stretch of the race, with a 32:26 min/mile pace in the last 0.53-mile segment to the finish. James demonstrated consistency in handling the rigorous final miles. For future attempts, focusing on sustaining early momentum may improve overall results.
