Significant Improvement Noted in Higher Altitude Splits Mitch Sipalay completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon in 5:32:38, showing a remarkable improvement from his previous attempt in 2024 with a time of 5:55:15. His overall pace this year was 24:53 min/mile, significantly better than the previous 26:35 min/mile. Notably, Mitch improved his position in the O55-59 division from 53rd in 2024 to 44th in 2025. Key improvements can be observed in the segment from Barr Camp to the Finish, especially in the mile leading up to Barr Camp where he registered a much-improved pace of 14:52. Mitch’s pacing was consistent before "Top of W's," but he demonstrated an area for continued development, particularly in the ascending sections from Bottomless Pit to A-Frame where split paces slowed to 41:16 and 32:37 respectively. Continued focus on managing the more challenging high-altitude sections could further enhance his performance. Overall, his efforts this year resulted in a stronger finish and improved standings.
