Consistent Pace Improvement on Pikes Peak Ascent Rachel Shumway delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with a finishing time of 3:41:04. She covered the 13.36-mile distance at a pace of 16:32 min/mile, improving on her previous year's performance by 9 minutes and 25 seconds. Rachel placed 225th overall and 9th in her age division (F30-34) out of 2049 participants. She demonstrated resilience, especially in the challenging sections above the tree line, maintaining consistent splits even as the altitude increased. Notable splits included her initial strong start at Ruxton, clocking in at an 8:39 pace, and a particularly steady segment at "7.8 Summit" with a 14:38 pace. While her pace naturally slowed later in the race, she maintained position well, moving up places as she progressed, notably from Barr Camp to the finish. Continuing to focus on pacing strategies at high altitudes could further enhance her performance.
