Steady Ascent Shows Improvement Daniel Fillenwarth completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, a grueling half marathon with a significant gain in elevation, in 4:10:43. His average pace was 18:46 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course, securing the 10th position in his division. Notably, this was an improvement over his 2024 performance, where he clocked in at 4:11:51, reducing his time by over a minute and improving his pace from 18:51 min/mile. This year, Daniel started strong with a swift opening split at Ruxton (0.43 miles) completing it with a pace of 8:36 min/mile, showing good early momentum. The challenging final three miles above the treeline, from A-Frame to the finish, saw Daniel maintaining consistency. It will be beneficial for Daniel to analyze pacing and tackle the slower sections, where splits surpassed 23 min/mile, to focus on stamina in high altitudes for future events.
