Consistent Performance in High-Altitude Challenge Paul Dent completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 5:50:55. His pace was consistent, maintaining an average of 26:15 min/mile over the 13.36 miles, despite the challenging conditions above the tree line. He ranked 9th in the O70-74 division, showing commendable endurance and resilience through the course's challenging elevations, finishing at 14,061 feet. His performance was stable throughout, with a noted slowdown in the final splits as he approached the summit. Compared to his 2024 race, Paul's pace experienced a slight decline from a previous pace of 25:24 min/mile, reflecting the increasing difficulty of the course. Early segments like "Ruxton" at 13:26 min/mile showed promise, but the speed tapered off, reaching 40:02 min/mile towards the "Finish." Although some segments saw increased split paces—such as "1.5 Miles To Go" at 37:05—a steady improvement could be targeted in maintaining speed in the final miles.
