Significant Improvement in Pikes Peak Ascent Ricardo Luther improved his performance at the Pikes Peak Ascent in 2025. He completed the half marathon in 6:02:40, shaving off 14 minutes and 59 seconds from his time in 2024. His overall pace improved, moving from 28:16 min/mile to 27:08 min/mile. Impressively, he climbed from 121st to 120th in his division, showcasing progress in the O45-49 age group. Analyzing splits, Ricardo started strong, maintaining a steady pace at Ruxton and Hydro Street. However, like many participants, pacing slowed significantly in the high-altitude segments, particularly noticeable during "Bottomless Pit" and "A-Frame" with paces over 35 min/mile. This is understandable given the elevation gain to over 14,000 feet. The transition from "2.5 Miles To Go" to "Finish" saw consistent pacing, indicative of effective energy management towards the end. Future focus could include targeted training on mountain running under high altitude to enhance endurance and reduce time loss in the final miles.
