Strong Start, Challenging Finish at Pikes Peak Ascent Kevin Toups completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 4:41:14, covering a distance of 13.36 miles with an average pace of 21:03 minutes per mile. Starting strong, Kevin reached Ruxton in 3:15 with a brisk 7:35 pace, holding an impressive position of 158th overall, and 3rd in the O50-54 division. By Hydro Street, his pace slightly decreased to 9:24, maintaining momentum with the 4th spot in his division. As the altitude increased above the tree line, Kevin faced challenges that were felt in his split times. Notably, the final splits showed a significant drop in pace to over 42 minutes per mile beyond the 1.5-mile-to-go marker. Despite the difficulty, he completed the challenging portion maintaining a doubled position within his division. A focused approach on high-altitude segments and maintaining steady pacing could enhance future performances in similar terrains.
