Consistent Climb with Steady Progression Kevin Sypal tackled the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent's demanding ascent with a final time of 4:21:21 over 13.36 miles, placing 560th overall and 45th in his division. His strategy showed consistency, particularly during early splits, with a notable climb from starting in 868th place to reaching the Top of W's at 387th place, maintaining steady relative placement in his age bracket throughout. The split from Ruxton to Hydro Street, approximately 0.8 miles, stood out, with a strong pace of 10:34 min/mile. As the altitude increased, the pace adjusted accordingly, such as the 30:43 min/mile from one mile to the finish above 14,000 feet. Future races may focus on adapting pacing strategies for the final miles above the tree line, as these sections posed the steepest challenges with pacing reaching 33:20 min/mile in the final stretch.
