Steady Start with High-Elevation Slowdown Elyse Holmes, 32, from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:32:13, covering 13.36 miles at an elapsed pace of 20:22 min/mile. Early on, she maintained a strong pace, moving from 231st overall at the start to 435th by Ruxton with an impressive split pace of 8:36. Her pace remained competitive through Hydro Street, recording a split pace of 11:26. At 3.2 miles, her overall placement was steady at 672nd, reflecting her determination before the altitude increased. As the course elevation climbed, Elyse's pace slowed, particularly noticeable from A-Frame onward where the elevation reached 11,933 feet. The final stretch presented the most significant challenges, with a split pace of 29:15 for the last 1.95 miles. While she finished 28th in her division (F30-34), maintaining a faster final stretch could help improve her finish in future high-altitude races.
