Exceptional Elevation Performance at 19 Madeline Grossman, 19, demonstrated impressive endurance during the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile high-altitude half marathon in 4:01:35. Her pace averaged 18:04 min/mile, with significant elevation changes along the course. Starting strong with an 8:17 min/mile split from the Start to Ruxton, her place overall moved from 229 at the start to 368 by the finish amid 2049 participants. Impressively, Madeline secured 2nd place in the F16-19 division and 79th among women. The course, ascending from 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet, saw Madeline adapt to its demands. While her pace slowed above the tree line, her determination remained consistent, maintaining key placements. She navigated the challenging ascent with strategic pacing; for instance, maintaining under 20 min/mile pace up to Barr Camp. Focusing on pacing consistency up the final sections could enhance her future performances. Continued strength in the last miles will ensure she remains competitive in elite division placements.
