Consistent Performance in Lofty Elevations Mark Lovell completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 5:42:48, covering a distance of 13.36 miles at an average pace of 25:39 per mile. Starting from sea level at 902nd overall, Mark climbed steadily despite the significant elevation gain. Midway through, at 7.8 Summit, he moved up in the ranks, reaching the 25th position in his division with an elapsed time of 2:05:16 and a split pace of 20:22 per mile. Throughout the ascent, Mark effectively managed his pacing, noting a slowdown as he entered the challenging altitudes, particularly after Barr Camp. The 0.5-mile split to the finish displayed a noticeable pace of 40:23, as expected at 14,000 feet above sea level. Finishing 24th in the O65-69 division amidst 2,049 runners signifies solid endurance. Commendable agility is evident from his consistent position improvement throughout the race; further refinement in high-altitude pacing could be beneficial.
