Consistent Effort in High Altitude Challenge Melissa O'Leary maintained strong performance metrics during the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the half marathon in 6:16:09 hours. Although her time slightly increased by 18 seconds compared to her 2024 performance, her consistency in pace was evident across the varying terrain and elevation changes. Beginning at an elevation of 6303 feet, she climbed to 14061 feet, tackling a significant altitude gain. Her split at "Barr Camp" demonstrated one of her most efficient paces of 17:17 min/mile over 1.86 miles. Throughout the ascent, Melissa's rank fluctuated within her division. Starting in the 22nd position among her age group at the "Start," she ultimately placed 74th upon reaching the "Finish." A notable performance segment was between "2.5 Miles To Go" and "Finish," where she slightly improved her positioning despite the increased challenge at high altitude. For upcoming races, focusing on maintaining her pace during the last five miles could enhance her overall performance.
