Steady Progress with Notable Mid-Race Gain Wenyi Zhou completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 5:10:30, averaging a pace of 23:14 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. Notably, her performance improved significantly as she moved through the race. After a challenging start, finishing Ruxton with a split pace of 9:44 min/mile, she quickly shifted gears, moving to the Barr Camp split with a strong pace of 14:26 min/mile. This segment saw her overall placement jump to a high of 942. As she climbed to higher altitudes, the pace naturally slowed. The final stretch, from "1 Mile To Go" to the finish, averaged about 31:20 min/mile. Despite the demanding conditions, Wenyi finished 50th in her division (F30-34), highlighting her resilience. Analyzing her splits, she could focus on maintaining consistency through the segment from Bottomless Pit to A-Frame, which posed a challenging pace shift. Overall, a strong performance with valuable insights for future races at similar elevations.
