Consistent Performance with Promising Results in 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Steven Phillips demonstrated endurance and consistency by conquering the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 3:18:48 over a 13.36-mile course with an average pace of 14:52 min/mile. This performance earned Steven 2nd place in the O55-59 division out of 2049 participants. Noteworthy milestones include a strong start, moving from 12th to 2nd in his division by the Ruxton checkpoint in only 3:19 at a 7:43 pace, illustrating effective pacing strategy. The steadiest stretches were from the Top of W's to Barr Camp, averaging near a 12:51 min/mile pace. Although finishing slightly slower than his 2024 performance, Phillips maintained his division standing. Noticeable reductions in speed occurred after passing Barr Camp, especially in the final elevation stretch from A-Frame to the finish line. These segments registered the slower split times and may benefit from strategic pacing adjustments in future events to efficiently manage the steep altitude and fatigue effects commonly experienced beyond the tree line.
