Steady Ascent and Strong Finish Sheila Decker achieved an impressive performance in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, finishing with an elapsed time of 5:31:39 at the age of 67. Her pace averaged 24:49 min/mile across the 13.36 miles, climbing from 6000 feet to a remarkable 14061 feet. Notably, she secured the 6th place in her F65-69 age division and 408th in overall female rankings, against a total of 2049 participants. Her pacing strategy reflected endurance and steady advancement through increasing altitudes. Starting energetically, she maintained sub-21-minute paces up to the "7.8 Summit" at mile 6.05. The more challenging final miles above the tree line saw her pace range from 27:17 to 43:55 min/mile. Particularly during the last half mile, patience and resilience were evident as she navigated the steepest climb, maintaining her top-six position in her division through to the finish line.
