Steady Improvement in High Altitude Conditions Samuel Loustaunau demonstrated significant improvement at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, achieving an elapsed time of 3:33:56 on the 13.36-mile course. He cut nearly 6 minutes from his previous year’s time. Notably, Samuel maintained a consistent pace in challenging high-altitude conditions, finishing with an average pace of 16:00 min/mile. Analyzing the split times, Samuel exhibited strong pacing in the initial segments, with a commendable 7:31 min/mile pace at "Ruxton," which is at 6355 feet elevation. His most significant time increase occurred in the final 3-mile stretch above the tree line, a known tough segment, where his pace varied from 20:02 to 22:23 min/mile. Although these are typical splits for such altitudes, seeking gradual improvement in pacing across this segment could further enhance overall performance. Great job leveraging his experience from last year’s race to achieve an improved finish.
