Consistent Climb to the Summit Alex Pond completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:59:10, covering a distance of 13.36 miles. Starting the race in 1558th place overall at 6,303 feet, Alex made a commendable climb, finishing 981st overall out of 2,049 participants. The race began promisingly, with particularly strong performance noted at the first split at Ruxton with an 11:02 min/mile pace. Notably, Alex maintained consistent pacing, averaging 22:23 min/mile over the entire course. As the race progressed above tree line, the impact of increased altitude was clear, with the final three miles reflecting a significant increase in split times. From Barr Camp to the finish, paces ranged from 28:14 to 33:42 min/mile. Despite this challenging elevation gain, Alex showed resilience, finishing 48th in the O20-24 age division. Future focus could be on maintaining a steady pace during high-altitude segments to complement overall performance.
