Steady Progress in High Elevations Roger Cruz tackled the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile race in 4:29:54 with an overall pace of 20:12 min/mile. Starting from an initial elevation of 6303 feet and peaking at 14,061 feet, Roger improved his position through the race despite increasing elevation challenges. Early on at Ruxton, he achieved a split pace of 9:34, and by the Hydro Street checkpoint, he had advanced to 54th in his division. In the later stages, the race's challenges were palpable. His pace adjusted as expected, with a slower 26:43 pace in the final stretch to the finish. Notably, at the "1.5 Miles To Go" marker, Roger marked an impressive 276th position among gender participants. The determination shown in climbing the higher altitudes is commendable. Focusing on pace consistency in final stretches could enhance his future results in such demanding conditions.
