Steady Progress in High Altitude Matt Maloney showed consistent improvement in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon. Completing the course in 3:44:52, Matt improved his time by an impressive 17 minutes and 43 seconds compared to his previous race in 2024. With an overall pace of 16:49 min/mile, Matt managed to secure the 26th spot in his age division 40-44. It's notable that his splits demonstrated strategic pacing as he tackled the increasing altitude, maintaining a strong position from Ruxton at 0.43 miles to the finish line. The final stretches presented challenging conditions, with paces slightly dropping as elevation peaked at 14,061 feet. Matt's pace at the last 0.53 miles was 20:07 min/mile, reflecting the altitude's impact, but his ability to climb rankings to 26th in his division is commendable.
