Steady Climb to Success David Lassiter, at age 60 from McKinney, TX, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an Elapsed Time of 4:06:13 over a 13.36-mile course, beginning at 6303 feet and finishing at 14061 feet. While maintaining a steady effort throughout, David achieved an 18:25 min/mile pace and secured 8th place in the O60-64 division. David began the race smoothly—progressing from 542nd to 618th within the first 0.43 miles. As the elevation increased, he managed to consistently improve his divisional standing—from 15th to 8th by the race's end. Notably, even as the terrain became more steep and challenging, David's strategic pacing helped him maintain and progress steadily. Particularly impressive was his performance after the "2 Miles To Go" marker, where he consistently secured 8th place. Broadening attention on increasing speed at higher altitudes could optimize future runs.
