Consistent Performance Despite Challenging Conditions Cole Christain delivered a solid performance in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with a total elapsed time of 4:12:18 and an average pace of 18:53 min/mile for the 13.36-mile uphill course. Starting strong, Cole climbed steadily from Ruxton to Hydro Street, averaging below 10 min/mile in the early stages. This resulted in a notable overall position shift from 875th at the start to 355th at Hydro Street. The ascent's demanding conditions above the tree line saw his pace understandably slow, reaching 27 min/mile by the finish at 14,061 feet elevation. Comparing his performance to last year, Cole showed determination, as his elapsed time increased by only 6 minutes and 47 seconds in this year’s ascent despite more challenging conditions. His placement in the O25-29 division showed a top 44 finish, maintaining consistency with last year's results. Cole's pacing strategy indicates potential improvements can be made in the final miles when altitude gain is most significant.
