Consistent Effort in High Altitude Geoff Morrison completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:55:50, navigating 13.36 miles at an average pace of 22:08 min/mile. He finished 947th out of 2049 participants, placing 672nd in the open gender category and 115th in his age division. At the start, Geoff was in a relatively strong position, ranking 245th overall. However, the challenging altitudinal climb contributed to shifts in his pacing and ranking as the race progressed. Splits analysis shows Geoff adapted his strategy as the elevation increased. For instance, his pace started at 10:21 min/mile at Ruxton and adjusted to 28:40 min/mile by the final half-mile before the finish at 14,061 feet. Notably, his position improved in the latter stages, moving from 907th with one mile to go to 947th at the finish, indicating a strong finish despite the conditions. Focusing on pacing strategies for future high-altitude events may help maintain a steadier position throughout.
