Steady Performance with Consistent Effort David Sheldon completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, a half marathon covering 13.36 miles, with an elapsed time of 4:13:25 and an average pace of 18:58 min/mile. At age 61, he secured the 12th position in the O60-64 division out of 2049 participants. Starting strong, David moved up from 24th to 5th in his division by Hydro Street and maintained steady performance over the first half of the course with consistent pacing. While the final three miles above the tree line proved particularly demanding, slower pacing was observed, especially from the "1 Mile To Go" mark to the finish, where the split pace rose to 29:57 min/mile. Compared to his 2024 performance, David added additional minutes overall, which suggests careful monitoring of pacing in the final miles could aid in achieving a strong finish. His ability to maintain a solid middle section is commendable.
