Outstanding Division Victory at High Altitude Kathleen White, age 74 from Denver, CO, showcased a remarkable performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon. Completing the grueling 13.36-mile course in 6:28:21, she secured first place in the F70-74 division. Her overall pace was 29:04 per mile. Kathleen's strategic start at the "Ruxton" checkpoint set a promising tone with an impressive 12:35 per mile pace for the initial 0.43 miles, before gradually adapting to tougher conditions. Her exceptional stamina and determination were evident as she climbed to the top amidst the tough altitude. Starting strong at lower elevations, she navigated through increasing elevation, reaching 14061 feet by the finish line. Despite a noticeable pace reduction during the final stretches, particularly noticeable with a 42:01 pace from the "0.5 Miles To Go" mark to the finish, she maintained her lead in her division. Focusing on maintaining the pace in the closing stages could prove beneficial for future events.
