Steady Progress with Strong Finish Christopher Gibson took on the Pikes Peak Ascent with a committed and consistent approach. He completed the 13.36-mile course in 4:31:37, maintaining an overall pace of 20:19 min/mile. Starting off strong, he reached the Ruxton checkpoint in 3:31 at a fast 8:12 min/mile pace, positioning himself 309th overall. As expected, his pace adjusted as he tackled the altitude and elevation gain, showing commendable perseverance. Christopher's performance in the 40-44 age division was competitive, with a 62nd place finish. Notable efforts include his 16:06 min/mile pace at the 7.8 Summit point and maintaining under 30 min/mile pace until the final half-mile, where conditions and climb fatigue pegged him to a 36:36 min/mile at the finish. His ability to maintain form and finish strongly suggests a good strategy for tackling challenging sections in future races.
